01 Why it exists
Every chat startedfrom zero.
AI agents got good enough to do real work: write the follow-up, prepare the meeting, find what was decided last month. But each conversation began knowing nothing. You explained the project again, pasted the same notes again, and whatever it learned was gone when the window closed.
Meanwhile, the context that mattered was scattered across meeting recordings, chat histories and documents in five different apps, most of them owned by someone else.
Glowstone is the fix: one folder of plain files on your Mac that holds your projects, people, meetings and decisions, kept current by the agent you already use. Every conversation starts knowing what the last one learned.

Your files, on your Mac
Everything Glowstone keeps is a plain Markdown file in a folder you choose. No database, no proprietary format. Open it in Finder, Obsidian or any editor, back it up however you like, and leave whenever you want with all of it.

Bring your own agent
We don’t sell an AI. You use the one you already have: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or free models through OpenCode and Kilo Code. Switch any time; the memory stays.

Free, without an account
Download it and use it. No sign-up, no card, no trial that runs out. Transcription and dictation run on your Mac with Whisper, so there are no per-minute fees either.

Honest software
An assistant that promises a feature it doesn’t have costs more trust than it saves time. Much of the work on Glowstone goes into making the agent say only what’s true.

For people, not just developers
AI agents started in the terminal. Glowstone puts them in a window anyone can use, with meetings, notes and reminders, without having to know what a terminal is.

A tab at the top of your screen, two keys to bring it forward, your voice when typing is slower. The best tool is the one you don’t have to go looking for.

04 Where it is today
What it does,and what it doesn’t yet.
Glowstone is young and moves fast: new versions ship every week. This is the honest state of things.
Not yet
- A Windows version. It’s Mac only for now (macOS 11 or later).
- Sync between computers. The workspace is a folder, so you can put it in iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox.
- An AI model of its own. That’s on purpose: you bring yours.
05 Who makes it
Built by one person,used every day.
Glowstone is designed and built by Oriol Riba Salvany, a product manager who builds the tools he needs. It’s an independent project, and the first user of every feature is the person who wrote it, in his own workspace, before it ships.
