Glowstone The AI second brain Workspace for macOS

Glowstone is a local AI workspace for Mac. It gives the AI agents you already use durable project context by organizing your work as portable Markdown files and connecting related projects, people, decisions, and documents in a knowledge graph.

Yes, Glowstone is free to download and use, with no account and no card. What it doesn't include is the AI itself: Glowstone works with an AI agent you bring, signed in with your own account. Claude Code uses your Claude plan, Codex your ChatGPT plan and Cursor your Cursor plan; OpenCode and Kilo Code can run on free models or on your own keys. You pay your agent's provider directly, as you already do. Glowstone takes no cut.

Glowstone keeps workspace knowledge as normal Markdown files in folders you control on your Mac. The files remain readable in Glowstone, Obsidian, and standard text editors, so your knowledge is not locked inside a proprietary chat history.

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Kilo Code. Glowstone finds the ones installed on your Mac and can install one for you. If you use a different command-line agent, add it in Settings → Agents with the command that starts it, and it opens in Glowstone's console. The exact data handled by an agent depends on the agent and provider you choose.

Yes. Glowstone uses plain Markdown files and wiki-style links, so the same workspace can be opened with Obsidian or another Markdown-compatible editor.

The current public build supports macOS and is distributed as a universal Mac download. Windows support is planned but is not available yet.

Yes, and it separates who spoke: your side is captured from the microphone and the other side from what your Mac is playing, so no bot has to join the call. The transcript builds up while the call is going, a few seconds behind the conversation, and is saved as a Markdown note in your meetings folder when you stop. Transcription runs locally on your Mac. Recording other people is regulated in many places, so tell them first.

Yes. While you record, the tab at the top of your screen shows the live transcript and a chat. Ask something like "what price did they just say?" or "did we already agree this with Sophie?" and your agent answers with everything said so far plus what's already in your notes. It won't write anything into your workspace unless you ask.

99, and you don't have to pick one: the language is detected from the audio. The default speech model is small and fast, so text comes back in about a second on a MacBook Air. If you work with strong accents or a less common language, Settings has a larger model that is slower and more precise.

Yes. Hold a key, talk, and the text is typed into whatever app you are using, usually in about a second. The speech model runs on your Mac and works with no connection. It also reads the names in your workspace, so people, companies and places you actually work with are spelled correctly instead of guessed by sound, and it never swaps an ordinary word for one of those names. If you hold the key and say nothing, nothing is typed.

Scheduled conversations your agent starts by itself: a morning plan, a Friday review, a nudge before a meeting. You describe them in plain language and the agent writes the schedule into a file in your workspace. They only run while Glowstone is open, and when a routine has nothing to report it stays quiet.
